What is Collectible Design?

Many assume that if a piece is made by a well-known brand or is an antique, it qualifies as collectible design—but true collectible design is something far more special.

Collectible design represents a fusion of art, history, and craftsmanship, often created in limited editions or as one-of-a-kind pieces by the most influential designers of our time. These works are not mass-produced; they are intentionally crafted, often pushing the boundaries of materials, form, and concept. Their value comes not just from who made them, but from their cultural significance, rarity, and innovation.

Why I Dedicate to Restoring Collectible Design

I've dedicated my craft to restoring and preserving these rare pieces because they represent something greater than furniture or objects—they embody history, intention, and artistry.

There is a deep responsibility in restoring what is often irreplaceable. Each time I take on a restoration, I feel an honor and duty to protect the artist’s vision while ensuring the piece retains its integrity for future generations. This work is not just about repairs; it’s about stewardship, about carrying forward the legacy of the world's most celebrated designers.

My passion for collectible design restoration is driven by more than just technique—it’s about the connection I feel to the artists, the materials, and the stories behind each piece. Before beginning a restoration, I dive deep into researching the designer, their process, and their philosophy. Understanding the intention behind the work informs my decisions, allowing me to approach every project with the respect and precision it deserves.

This is more than a profession for me—it’s a calling. The chance to collaborate with history, to engage with the world’s leading artists and designers, and to bring new life to pieces that shape the design world fuels my best work. Every restoration is an opportunity to contribute to something bigger than myself, and I take that responsibility seriously.

When I restore a piece of collectible design, I am not just fixing an object—I am preserving a legacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas/locations do you service?
While I am based in Miami and primarily serve the South Florida area, I frequently travel nationwide and abroad for restoration projects. Work can be performed in my studio, at client homes, or receiving warehouses, depending on the project's requirements and the client's preference.

Can you provide an estimate before beginning a restoration project?
Yes, after receiving the restoration submission form and assessing the provided images and details, I usually can offer a preliminary estimate or a price range. For precise assessments, particularly with structural issues, an in-person evaluation may be necessary. My aim is to avoid change orders and provide transparent pricing upfront.

Can you work with items that are part of insurance claims?
Yes, I can prepare detailed proposals for insurance companies and serve as a neutral third-party for assessing damage in total loss situations. I also offer, for an additional fee, a comprehensive condition report that includes photographs and detailed damage classifications.

Are there any items you cannot restore?
I do not handle upholstery-related work, including fabric, suede, leather, or vinyl. I also typically do not repair glass or restore Lucite and plexiglass to my standards. For upholstery and complex glass repairs, I recommend specialists dedicated to those materials.

Do you offer any conservation advice to prevent future damage?
Absolutely. Upon completion of a project, I provide clients with maintenance tips and recommend specific cleaning products that can be purchased online to help preserve the item's condition.

What is the typical turnaround time for a restoration project?
Most pieces are completed within 1-3 days. More labor-intensive work may take up to 7-10 business days. While certain projects may require additional drying times, extending overall turnaround, it rarely exceeds two weeks.

Do you perform all the restorations yourself?
Yes, I personally handle all collectible design restorations to ensure the highest quality and control. While my assistant may help prepare the pieces, I oversee and perform the restoration work from start to finish, honoring the responsibility of preserving these valuable items.
